Tell us about your top-ranked choice. Why #1?

I was really quite stunned to not see Sunns on the Long List. They received more attention outside of Canada, particularly in England where the NME named them the group to watch for 2011.

What record that's perhaps local or under the radar did you suggest to the jury and would like to plug here to the whole world?

Suuns ! ;)

What was the first Canadian record you ever bought with your own money?

It must have been Alanis Morrissette... I was maybe 13 or 14 years old at the time. Or, when I was really young, Nathalie Simard's La dance des canards. (But would that really count?) [Ed: After watching that amusing retro-flavoured clip, we certainly think so.]

What Canadian artist would you like to see get his/her face on the Canadian money?

Hmm… Neil Young.

Imagine the tables are turned and you are the nominee: What would you do with the $30,000 prize money?

Something really boring: pay off my student loans. And then buy myself a car, some concert tickets, and for sure a tonne of CDs and vinyl!
